October 2005 saw the third reunion of our Army Water Transport, held in Brisbane. As with the previous gatherings the bi-annual event was well attended: over 300 guests for the 3 days. The majority of crew members served aboard LSMs bought from the US Navy in 1959/60. The ships were the LSMs 315, 319, 477 and 547; they served the Australian Army until 1971. The next reunion will be in 2007 in Perth, Australia.

"The Constitution of the United States of America is a changing Document, but it should be changed by Constitutional Amendments not "Informal Amendments" (Informal Votes of Supreme Court Judges)."

"Amending The Constitution"

“The Constitution, on this hypothesis, is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the Judiciary, which they may twist and shape into any form they please.”
~ Thomas Jefferson

"The Court is most vulnerable and comes nearest to illegitimacy when it deals with judge-made constitutional law having little or no cognizable roots in the language or design of the Constitution."
~ Byron R. White

“Well, Doctor, what have we got ... A Republic or a Monarchy?”
“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

~ The response is attributed to BENJAMIN FRANKLIN at the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, when queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation.

"When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home."
~ Tecumseh, Warrior & Statesman, Shawnee Nation

"God Bless America"
Words and music by Irving Berlin
Kate Smith

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains To the prairies,
To the ocean white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

"Autumn Leaves"
Nat King Cole

lyrics by johnny mercer,
Music by joseph kosma

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
