To the City of Port Clinton: It appears, if all goes well, the USS Amphibian aka USS LSM 45 will be off your shore some time in the Spring of 2008; looking for a Home. This ship, a lone survivor of the Ampibiious ships of World War II, like the ugly Duckling will grow into a beautiful Swan if Nourished by the City. The ship really represents many things about America. One is The Great Depression. America's Sweetheart of the Movies was Shirley Temple. Her movies were always about how a young girl with Moral values could overcome Hardships in a Cruel World. She was my Hero... She always Prevailed. So I will let Shirley say it all in the "Good Ship Lollipop aka USS LSM 45" ~ Oklahoma SandScraper 3/C

Old Sailors Never DieThere is an old Ship, far far away. Where we get mutton and beans, three times a day. No sugar for our Java, beefsteak we never see. And we are gradually fading away. Chorus Old sailors never die, Never die, never die, Old sailors never die They just fade away. Dance Of The Sea Phillipe Alexandre Belislie
