Robert Knapp USS LSM 433 Crew Going Home after turning their ship, LSM 433, over to the Chinese Navy. The crew with no ship hitched a ride home on an old Freighter. Gator, Robert Knapp, 2nd one from top on left of mast. The above photo is my favorite World War II photo. The captain's grotesque abuses of power, including a brutal flogging that results in the death of the sick old ship's doctor, finally inspire a mutiny on the return voyage, conducted under the leadership of fair-minded officer Fletcher Christian (Clark Gable). A sea-going adventure which captured my Imagination. I would forever be a "Fletcher Christian". 1936 I played many hours on Sand Creek, Atoka, OK, along with my friends. The problem was ..
