USS LSM 462 E.L. Zimmerman .. Lieutenant (jg), Executive Officer These old photos were taken in Kure, Japan - 1945. The defeated Japanese nation would rise from the ashes of defeat and become a great nation again. The young children would grow up in an occupied country, but would enjoy a better life and more freedom as an adult than his/her parents.
