Subj: Iwo Jima photo - Time magazine has gone too far

I am writing in hope that you will share my outrage.


Time magazine has taken the photo of the marines raising the flag on Iwo Jima and 'photoshopped' it to replace the flag with a tree. It is meant to depict an analogy to the 'War on Global Warming'. As the son of a man who went ashore and fought in the hell of Iwo Jima, and as an American who has seen the photo many times, stood before the memorial, and felt a flush of pride and gratitude for the men who charged into the jaws of death, I cannot hold back my anger and revulsion for the less-than-maggots who have cheapened and desecrated a national treasure.

Let them construct their own symbol for global warming, but do not touch this national treasure!

TIme must pay for this insult to the honor of the men for whom 'Uncommon valor was a common virtue'. Not by censorship, but by people turning their back. I will never pick up another Time magazine.

For this reason, I urge you to cancel your subscription, and to spread the news of this desecration and urge others to do the same - Your doctors and dentists included. It is time we stood up and loudly proclaimed that some things are beyond cheapening
