Zorbas The Greek

When I think of Greece, I think of Zorbas. I have never been to Greece, but I have seen the movie, Zorba The Greek. I loved the character Alexis Zorbas.

Zorbas........Well nourished by the roving life, the widely- traveled one with the gold dream of wandering, the primitive superman, the ingenious one, the insatiable womanizer, the . . . inexhaustible one.

"Looking For A Home Port"
LSM 45 CAMP LEJUNE, NC AUGUST 2006

Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean (WaterWay).

Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink ;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.

Cool Water
Water Water every where
Except it is Under Ground
Mary Robbins

The very deep did rot : O Christ !
That ever this should be !
Yea, slimy things did crawl with legs
Upon the slimy sea.

About, about, in reel and rout
The death-fires danced at night ;
The water, like a witch's oils,
Burnt green, and blue and white.

Warren, this is one of the most famous poems in literature in the last 200 years and numerous quotations appear abundantly in many works. " water,, water everywhere but not a drop to drink" is only one that I am certain that you have used many times. There are links in your submission that connect you to different audio's of the poem.

Jane Aker's version is the one I referred to . It has the poem and the audio. Several are listed in your submission. I think (as you already know) that the poem " The Ancient Mariner" captures the spirit of the 45 and as I told you previously, I feel he lurks within.

Warren I have always been big on metaphors. Thank you for your continued efforts to craft a site with such broad reaches. You are my friend and I understand you.
